If you want to play around with slave economies, you pretty much have to get DeI for three reasons: the "Sell Slaves" edict (which can be acquired from another mod), the "Commercial Stimulation" edict (only in DeI), and most importantly the Slave resource (only in DeI).... It was a bit of a pain, as a number of things in Total War: Rome 2 are a bit of a pain, but it didn't really get in the way of my continental ambitions and, more importantly, it didn't stop me
